Cubs World Series MVP Ben Zoobist, who has been on personal leave from the team since last week, and his wife Juliana filed for divorce on Monday in the Cook County Circuit Court, according to the court records.
Juliana Zobist has been listed as a plaintiff. Citing "unchanging differences" as the basis for filing divorce.
The cubs did not disclose the cause of Zobist's leave from the team which started on May 8, and team officials said on Tuesday that their deadline is uncertain.
Manager Joe Madden said, "I recited with him the other day, reminded him how much I cared about him."
Juliana Zawbrist, a professional singer who has sang the national anthem in CobSS Games and sang "God Blues America" before the 2016 World Series game in Wrigley Field, has deleted her Twitter account in recent weeks. In the beginning of this year, he had opened the Instagram account of his husband's pictures.
The 2016 World Series MVP Ben Zobrust also delayed reporting for spring training in February, which he and the team called "personal reasons".
Zobbist is in the last year of the four year contract with the cub.
Last week, his leave prompted the team to call Edison Russell back to Russell's domestic violence for a minor-league option, after the suspension.
