(TechnologyMagan) - These iPhones may not get Apple’s next iOS 13 update, and iPhone 5s: Report.
Apple is reportedly going to make an unpopular decision with leaving support for its iOS 13 update - iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone SE and older iPhones. The company can also keep the iPad Mini 2 and iPad Air out of its iOS 12 coverage.
While the iPad Mini 2 and iPad Air are quite old models, the decision to remove the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus is going to attract criticism. These two models are among the most popular iPhones of the year and are still being sold in markets like India. Even the Apple iPhone SE is also available in the market.
Every year Apple releases new iOS recurrence with new updates and features. After criticizing the intentional throttling performance of older devices, Apple made some radical changes with iOS 12 updates last year. The biggest thing of iOS 12 was that it maintained compatibility with older iPhones compared to the iPhone 5S.
Apple's decision to drop support for iPhone 6 and other models is being considered as a trick to push older users into new iPhones. Since 2017, Apple has launched three new iPhone models. The company is going to continue this trend in 2019 too.
However, the catch is that despite adding three new models every year, many older users are not increasing the company's revenue.
Apple is already struggling with weak sales in major markets including India. According to the company, iPhone sales declined by 17% compared to last year. Despite the decline in sales and the company's new services, the iPhone still accounts for 54% of the company's business. Last year, it had about 61% of the share.
