Last month, GOG announced an interesting new PC client called GOG Galaxy 2.0. As you might expect, you will be able to use the GOG Galaxy 2.0 to manage and launch the game purchased through GOG store, but this release takes things an important step forward. The goal of GOG Galaxy 2.0 is to collect all your games in one place, even if you have bought them or on which platforms you own them.

It also includes console games, although obviously you will not be able to launch those people on the PC. However, the GOG Galaxy 2.0 will allow you to create a type of master game collection, regardless of the platform, listing all the games in one place. Specifically for PC games, you can add titles to other digital storefront like Steam and launch them using the GOG Galaxy 2.0.

The beta signup is live since the app was announced for the first time, so if you have already signed up, check your email to see if there is any invitation for you.

If you have not yet signed up to consider for the Close beta, you can still go to the GOG Galaxy website and submit your email address. At the top of merging your various game libraries, the purpose of GOG Galaxy 2.0 is to show you what your friends are doing on all platforms including recently played games and earned achievements. As always, GOG Galaxy 2.0 will not be required to play GOG DRM-free games, although you have the option to add those titles to the launcher if you wish.

For now, GOG Galaxy 2.0 will launch for everyone, or even how many people are being accepted into a closed beta, there is no word on this. What's more, assuming that you are in beta, you should expect an app that is still in a lot of work, in which some features are either incomplete or completely missing.
