Xiaomi confirmed today that it will shortly launch the entry-level Redmi 7A in the Indian market. The information was first posted on Twitter by Manu Kumar Jain, managing director of Xiaomi India. Xiaomi's sub-brand Redmi unveiled the Redmi 7A in May this year and is currently only on sale in China.
Unfortunately, Xiaomi India has not yet announced the date of any launch. This can mean that the Redmi 7A will be formally launched in the country next month, possibly with K20 and K20 Pro. This tweet also highlights the fact that the previous Entry-Level Redmi A series phones such as Redmi 4A, Redmi 5A, and Redmi 6A proved to be highly successful in the Indian market with combined sales of 23.6 million units of April.
Redmi 7A is a compact entry-level phone with a 5.45-inch display that offers HD + resolution. Instead of quad-core MediaTek Helio A22 chips that power Redmi 6A, Redmi 7A has an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 processor running inside. It comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB storage, in which the MicroSD card slot allows up to 256GB and extend.
Contrary to Redmi's budget smartphone lineup, camera hardware, entry-level redmi 7A is not very exciting. It has a front-facing 13MP camera and a 5MP front facing camera for selfies. The phone also has a large 4000mAh battery and P2i nanocotaging for splash resistance. Like other Redmi smartphones released this year, Xiaomi's custom MIUI 10 based on Radmi 7A Android pie runs on skin. Since Redmi 7 is available in India, for an initial price of Rs. 7,999 ($ 116), Redmi 7A can start from Rs.5,999 ($ 87) in the country.
