BMW M Rules out wagons
BMW has built some incredible M-wagons in the past. The E34 and E61 M5 wagons immediately leap to mind. Even the concept of the E46 M3 wagon was very good, although it is sad that it was never produced. Us nerds are always praying to drop a new M-wagon, but it doesn't look like it is going to happen now.
This is the sad reality we are living in.
Rumors of the first M3 Touring production car have been circulating on the internet for almost a year, but there is no indication about it. BMW built this extravagant M3 wagon based on the E46 in 2000, but it was only used for various tasks in one house. It seems that we are never seeing an M3 wagon as the BMW M Boss, Marcus Flash, told Car magazine that a high-performance M Touring model is not on the agenda, which means that you have to go for the M340 Touring Have to compromise:
In general, BMW M-wagons have historically been produced and sold in small numbers. These were directly aimed cars for enthusiasts, and we both know that enthusiasts make a lot of noise, our purchasing power is relatively low. BMW M boss, Marcus Flash, recently spoke to Car magazine about the possibility of wagons in the future M portfolio. Spoiler alert, it's low. Like, no one.
"Excursion wealth is not part of our M plan," Flash said flatly. He's gone:
“If I asked customers in Austria, Switzerland or Germany that they would probably give it a thumbs up, but we are a global company and we have a lot of things to deal with powertrains that we don’t go into products like this. This is what SUVs are for. "
This is what SUVs are for.
Have you heard just that? The crack that resonates like a bird scattering through the mountains? That was the sound of my heart splitting in two. No more wagons because that's what the SUV is for.
SUVs like X6 M, X5 M, X4 M etc. I have no doubt that these cars have all the appropriate M trimmings that legitimize them, but they are very spacious. And United Nations wagons. And often very ugly. But they have mass appeal because a big car is what everyone wants now, hence, money.
They will never be my M-wagon.
If you were holding on for a new M3 wagon M5 wagon or even M2 shooting brake (well, that was a long shot), you can forget about it. Sorry. The boss said so.
In other words, while there is a demand for M3 touring in some parts of the world, it is still not enough to make a case for a solid business. Globally, BMW M believes the SUV makes more sense, which is why they just launched the X3M and X4M to join their older brothers, the X5M and X6M is .
If you must imagine a real BMW M wagon, then you are just in chances that the super-rare E34 or the still quite rare E61 generation used M5 Touring with its powerful V10 and not-so-powerful SMG transmission . BMW's rapid division is made up of just under 900 of the former and a little over 1,000 of the latter, so you won't run into those that are often in the classifieds.
There are a couple of options to consider, namely the 202-mph B5-Turbo Touring aka the world's fastest production wagon or the upcoming long-roof B3 we'll see next month in Frankfurt as a hard M340i Touring.
