PV Sindhu Flies Indigenous Combat Aircraft Tejas at Bengaluru Air Show

Bengaluru: India's Ace badminton player P.V. Sindhu flew from HAL's Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas at the Aero India Air Show here on Saturday.

An official of the Ministry of Defense said on Friday, "Indus will be co-pilot of Tejas aircraft as a women's day in air show on Saturday."


Tejas is a single-engine multirol light fighter, manufactured by state-run Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).

The aircraft received the final operational clearance (FOC) as an armed fighter jet in its operational fleet in the Indian Air Force (IAF) from Military Operations Regulatory Center for Military Airworthiness and Certification (Semilak) on Wednesday.


Homegrown aircraft was flown by Army Chief General Bipin Rawat on Thursday, who distinguished it as a wonderful aircraft.


Women's Day, celebrated today in the Expo, demonstrated the achievements of women in the aerospace sector.


Three female IAF fighter pilots have also advanced the advanced version of BAE Systems Plc's Hawk-Eye Advanced Jet Trainer and Russian-made MiG-21.

On this occasion, women were honored in the field and a book and film will be released on 'Women in Aviation'.
