Goa's CM and former Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar has passed away. Four-time Goa Chief Minister, 63-year-old Parrikar was suffering from cancer for a long time. President Ramnath Kovind tweeted and paid tribute to Parrikar, saying that his contributions to Goa and the country can not be forgotten. Parrikar has left behind two sons. Both of his sons are away from politics. Utpal is an engineer by profession and Abhijit himself does business. A central cabinet meeting has been convened to pay homage to him at 11 a.m. on Monday. At the same time, the Central Government declared a national mourning on March 18.
In spite of being severely suffering from cancer, he has been living his responsibilities as a CM for the last several months. Many of his photographs drip in the nose were also viral on social media. Manohar Parrikar, who had a strong column of BJP and politics in Goa, had studied with IIT. He had a special identity as a leader of the country's educated and simple life.
It is worth mentioning that in February 2018 Parrikar was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He has already been treated in hospitals in Goa, Mumbai, Delhi and New York. On the days he was very ill, he came to present the budget of 2019-20 in the state assembly. During this time, he had said very confidently, "I am also in spirit and am also in senses."

A Home Ministry spokesman said that the national flag will be half-hinged in the national capital, union territories and state capitals. The Cabinet meeting will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday. On the other hand, after the demise of Manohar Parrikar, a state mourning was declared for 7 days from 18 to 24 March in Goa. During this time, the national flag will be half full in Goa.
Manohar Parrikar will be cremated at 5 pm on Monday with the state honor. Earlier, from 9.30 am to 10.30 pm, his body will be kept for the last glimpse of Manohar Parrikar's Mortal Remains in Panaji's BJP office. After this, at 10.30 in the morning, the body of Manohar Parrikar will be taken to the Art Academy of Registrar, where at 4:00 PM, ordinary people will be able to pay tribute to their leader. At 4 pm, the final journey of Manohar Parrikar from Art Academy to Miramar will be out and at 5 o'clock will be cremated.
PM Modi tweeted,
"I am shocked by the demise of Manohar Parrikar. Manohar Parrikar was a unique leader. A true patriot and extraordinary administrator. He used to admire all. His service to the nation will be remembered for generations. He was deeply hurt by his demise. Sense of his family and supporters.
The PM wrote another tweet, "The country will always be grateful for Manohar Parrikar's tenure as Defense Minister. During his defense minister, India saw many such decisions, which strengthened the country's security capabilities, increased the sector of indigenous defense production, as well as the life of former employees and happiness.

After becoming the Chief Minister, he did not look back
Manohar Parrikar became Chief Minister of Goa for the first time on October 24, 2000, but his tenure lasted till 27 February 2002. With the popularity gained during this short tenure, he brought the BJP to power and on June 5, 2002 he was again elected the CM. The BJP had lost in 2007 to the Congress led by Digambar Kamat, but the party and the people were reliant on Parrikar and in the year 2012, the BJP returned to power due to the wave of popularity of Parrikar. He won the party 21 seats out of 40 in the assembly and became the chief minister. It also remained in the year 2014 when the party won both the Lok Sabha seats in the general elections.
