There are a few reasons Google Assistant does not work on your Android device. Fortunately, most problems are minor and can be fixed in a few minutes without any technical knowledge. To get the assistant back and running, just follow the steps given below. In most cases, one of them should solve your problem.
Editor's note: Is your issue related to Google Home, not Android devices? See this guide instead.
1. Reboot your phone
Let's start at a simple: reboot your phone. It is very quick and easy and definitely worth a try, because it is known to get rid of many problems related to technology.
I'm sure you all know how to reboot your Android device, but I will go through this process anyway. You just have to press and hold the power button on your device for a minute or two, after which some options will appear on your screen. Select Restart / Reboot option and phone rest will work.
After the handset is back up, try to launch Google Helper to check if the problem still exists. If it is, then proceed to the second step.
2. Make sure Assistant is enabled and that your device supports it
Start by checking whether your phone supports Google Assistant - not every model does Devices that support this requirement:
Android 5.0 or higher
Google App 6.13 or higher
Google Play services
At least 1GB of storage
In addition, the language of the device must be set to one of the following: Chinese (Traditional), Danish, Dutch, English, French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil) Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, or Turkish.
Make sure to turn on Google Assistant on your Android device.
If everything is checked out, but Google Assistant is still not working on your phone, then the next thing is to make sure the service is running. Open the Google app on your device, select the option "more" at the bottom of the screen, and tap "Settings" after "Google Assistant" next step to tap, scroll down, and do the "Assistant" tab at the top Select your device, and then toggle the switch next to "Google Assistant" and "Login with Voice Match" to toggle the process to toggle on. After that, "OK Google," or "Google" Try calling the assistant, if nothing looks on your screen, then it's time to move to step three.
3. Retrain the voice model
It's possible that the reason Google does not work is because it does not recognize your voice. It's easy to fix this, because you only have to recreate the voice model. How to do this: Open the Google app on your phone, select the "More" option at the bottom of the screen, and tap "Settings". The next step is to tap the "Voice" option and choose "Voice Match". "After" RETAIN Voice Model "
After this simply tap on the "I Agree" option and follow the on-screen instructions to watch the voice model again. It's super easy - you just have to say "OK Google" and "Hey Google" just a few times.
Once you have completed the task, ask Hotword again to see if the problem has been solved and Google Assistant works now. If it is not, then there are some other things you can try, which we will look forward to.
4. Other potential solutions
- Check the microphone: Make sure your microphone is working and you are not covering it with your hand to call the assistant. If an auxiliary can not hear you, then it will not react.
- Check your internet connection: To be able to use the assistant, you have to be online. Ensure that you are connected to Wi-Fi or mobile network and the connection is stable.
- Disable other sound assistants: If you have a Samsung device, try disabling Bixby to see if the problem is resolved. And if you have downloaded Alexa, Courtahan, or any other voice assistant on your phone, disable it or delete it.
- Upgrade the app: Make sure the Google app has been updated to the latest version. Also be sure to give all permissions for the Google app by going to Settings> Apps> Google App> Permissions (may vary in model from path model).
