Importance of Janmashtami
Monsoon is associated with innumerable festivals in India. If these stories are to be believed, then on one such rainy night, Shri Krishna was born in the prison with Devaki and Vasudev. Devaki was the sister of the cruel king Kansa. On the day of Devaki's marriage with Vasudeva, a prophecy occurred from the sky. As predicted, the eighth son of Devaki and Vasudeva was about to cause Kansa's death. Hearing this, Kansa locked both Devaki and Vasudev in a prison and Kans killed all his seven children one by one. On the night of Krishna's birth, a divine voice directed Vasudeva to take Krishna to the home of his friend Nanda in Vrindavan. For the sake of his child's life, he overcame all the storms and took Krishna above his head to Vrindavan and safely left Krishna to Yashoda and Nanda. Vasudev appeared before King Kamsa with his girl born on the same day in the hope that he would not harm her. But the ruthless Kansa was not ready to show mercy at all, he threw the little girl against a rock. But there was no harm to this little girl, she woke up in the form and warned about Kansa's death.
Yashoda raised Lord Krishna like his son. Growing up, Krishna fulfilled the prophecy of killing Kansa and freed Mathura from all its cruelty. Many people install small statues of Bal Gopal in their home to celebrate the birth of Krishna. They bathe the idol with milk, honey and water and wear new and beautiful clothes to the idol. Some people also fast on the day of Janmashtami and break their fast at midnight.
Food and Prasad prepared on Janmashtami
Many different types of bhog are prepared on this auspicious occasion. Many types of fruits and sweet dishes are offered to the Lord. Because little Sri Krishna was very fond of eating butter, a special bhog Makhan Mishri is also prepared by churning white butter and sugar on this special day. Some people prepare 'Chappan Bhog' on this occasion to please the deity. Once Shri Krishna lifted the Govardhan mountain on his little finger to save the people of Vrindavan from the torrential rain sent by the angry Swami Indra. He stood for eight days with the mountain raised on his little finger. After the rain stopped, the women of the village made 56 special dishes to offer them. Today, we will tell you about some such works, which you should not do on Janmashtami.
The birthday of Lord Krishna, the eighth avatar of Lord Vishnu, is celebrated with great pomp throughout the country. On this day, devotees of Shri Krishna worship their devotion and celebrate their Janmashtami. Devotees of Lord Krishna eagerly wait for this day every year. Devotees also fast on this day, but there are some things that should not be done on this day. Today we will tell you about some such works, which you should not do on Janmashtami.
- - Steel or iron lamps are not used in the worship of Lord Shri Krishna, so use brass, copper or clay lamps in their worship. Also, whenever you light a lamp in front of Lord Vishnu or Shri Krishna, make sure to put a little intact under the lamp.
- -During the worship, the flowers that we offer to God must be fresh, but we people have a habit that we leave the old flowers there and remove the old flowers at the time of worship in the morning by curtaining the night. But, wherever there is a statue or picture of Shri Krishna, those old flowers should be removed before the curtain, only after that the curtain should be done.
- -You all know that cleanliness has special importance in every puja, so on Janmashtami, before the worship of Shri Krishna, if possible, brush it in the evening and worship it, otherwise you must rinse. False faces, even if you have not drunk tea, you will not participate in the worship of Shri Krishna on Janmashtami.
- -On Janmashtami, we only wear clean and clean clothes, but keep in mind that never use jute clothes or easy jute during the worship of Lord Shri Krishna. Because the use of jute in the worship of Lord Shri Krishna is strictly prohibited.
- - Tulsi party is very dear to Lord Vishnu and Shri Krishna in their worship, so if you offer any Prasad on Janmashtami, you must mix Tulsi party in it. Because worship of Lord Krishna is considered incomplete without Tulsi party.
- -Also, if there is a statue of Laddu Gopal in your home, workplace, office etc. then it is mandatory to bathe it regularly, offer it to the devotees, but remember that Laddu Gopal should never be offered without bathing. With the regular service of Laddu Gopal you will get certain benefits and you will also receive the immense grace of Lord Krishna.
