Google has rolled out new features for Android TV in India, with the help of which users' data will be saved. This feature is especially for users who do not have a Wi-Fi connection and who watch content on TV with the help of mobile data and hotspots. Google has also launched a cast feature, with the help of which users will be able to watch their downloaded media files on TV.
Joris Van Mance from Google wrote in a blog post that viewing content on HD TV with the help of mobile data can easily eliminate the limited data found in a daily data plan. Data Saver, Data Alerts and Hotspot Guide are features that have been launched for Indian users watching smart TV on limited mobile data.
Three times watch time
With the help of the first feature data saver, Google claims that with its help, the watch time can be increased almost three times as it will use less data on mobile connection. Apart from this, Data Alerts will keep telling the users while watching TV how much data has been spent or left till now. The third hotspot guide will help users in setting up TV with their mobile hotspot.
When will you get the update?
Google's post says, "We will roll out new features for Android TV devices in India in the next few weeks." First of all Xiaomi's Smart TV will get this latest update and after this TCL and MarQ by Flipkart will get its global rollout. Apart from this, the Cast feature in the Google Files app will be available in the beta program from today itself and it will be rolled out for all users in the next few weeks.
