Then on 19 November 1999, International Men's Day was celebrated for the first time by the people of Trinidad and Tobago. Dr. Jerome Tilak Singh took the initiative to give a name to the contribution of men in life. World Men's Day is celebrated on his father's birthday. Gradually it started being celebrated on November 19 around the world.

India celebrated International Men's Day for the first time in the year 2007. Since then, International Men's Day is celebrated every year on 19 November in India.
